Thanks for the TV experiences :)

Yeah, the TV interviews are already finished. I found it very interesting. Even though I was so nervous, but I believe it is a new experience to discover. I thought it was so hard but it not as hard as I expected it to be...haha...sorry do not mean to be 'action' here. What I mean is that it happened so quick and fast!

I got lots of responses from people after the interviews. Some responses are so positive and the story of my blog now has reached out to new audiences. last night, I got a surprised email from a person who was touched by Life through my eyes. He was a blogger, but he lost his motivation to keep blogging. But after he watched the show, he gained inspirations to write again! A huge applause to him and if you want to check out what he wrote, this is the link to his blog:

What happened last night was a good example of the impact of how the internet can inspire and change people's lives. Sometimes it is not about how many people you touched but it's about how much you touched them. I know that out there there are many sources of inspirations, but I am so happy and grateful that the story of my pupils and me in  the orang asli school is one of them.

It is school holidays now. So, happy holidays to all pupils and teachers all around Malaysia. i cannot wait to see my pupils again and listen to their feedback about the interviews. They always cheer me up with the way they show their appreciation. ;)

p/s: Thank you so much to Mdec, Text100, TV2, and ntv7 for inviting me to join the interviews and also thank you to all the supporters and viewers! ;)

you know yourself better than anyone else!

I think one of the regular question that people like to ask me is "How did I get the idea to start to blog Life through my eyes?"

I think the best answer that I can think of is that Life through my eyes helped me to maintain my motivation. When I first posted to SK Kampung Kenang, it was a challenge for me to be there and teach in that school. I think everybody will face the same problem when you are in a new place. You will be nervous, a bit scared of what waiting for you, who you gonna meet and many others mixed feelings.

However, all this idea, feelings and what so ever will just play in your own mind which means only you know it and only you feel it! So, what I do, I try to reflect what I feel and what I think to Life through my eyes so that it fill the emptyness that I have. For example, I feel scared, so I will write down I need to be brave! see...isn't that helpful when you read it again later! wahahaha! Maybe you need to do that too :)

If you wait for other people to give you advise, it maybe take some time and also it's not easy to find someone that really gets what you need. So, be nice to yourself by give yourself positive feedback because you know yourself better than anyone else!

By the way, after I finished the interview session on TV2 yesterday and then have a briefing session with Rina and Pashmina, I went to a cinema in Mid Valley. While I was wondering what to watch, suddenly someone came to me and passed me two free tickets for French Arts and Film Festival 2012! Wooohooo...thank you to that mysterious guy!

p/s: Get ready for tomorrow! Carpe Diem!!!

stop singing or it will rain! :S

After a few days not in the school as I went to the national teacher's day celebration and also went to visit Kuala Lumpur with year 6 pupils, so today I met with my year 1 pupils again.

Yeah, I brought them to the mathematics lab as per usual. Today, we do a revision on subtraction numbers because next week will be a mid year examination. My pupils always confuse to subtract with addition. So, that is why I do the revision on this topic.

So, after do explanations, modelling on the white board and recall their subtraction skills, I gave them exercises on the paper. So, the drama started soon enough after everybody got the paper. Some can do it with no helps but some of them need lots of guidance before they can really do it. So, it's quite wild environment in the lab.

Suddenly, while they were busy doing the work, one of the pupils started to sing song. Then another one started to sing with him, and then one more, more and more and everybody were singing the song. it's fine for me and I also singing the song with them while helping them to glue the exercise paper in the book. It was fun!

After a few minutes, Din out from no where stand up, tell people to stop singing and make stop sign using his hand. He looked very serious and everybody stop singing and listen to him! Then right after that he said "Please do not sing anymore, I want to go back home after this, your guys sound like calling the rain to fall down!"

Wahahaha! I can't stop laughing to think about that. So funny Din to say that when he also do the singing part! too cute to say no! But they keep singing after that and finish the work ;)

p/s: Does frog really call the rain?

Happy Teacher's Day 2012!!!

Happy Teacher's Day to all teachers in Malaysia or anywhere you are. This year teacher's day comes again. For me it should be celebrated by anybody that ever teach any single knowledge to anyone. That means everybody! Yeah!

It's quite interesting celebration this year. Life through my eyes: the book has been launch in the national Teacher's Day celebration! Yay! But more than that that makes me really have a good time was meeting with some other local authors, famous author in Malaysia actually. There are 14 other books has been launch together with LTME like book from Anis Ayuni, Nora Fuad, Ruzain Syukur, Razali Saaran and many more. It was a greet experience for me to meet them and exchanges some experiences and get some advises from them. Thank you so much and Happy Teacher's Day to all of them!

p/s: Already met some famous authors, so maybe in the future will meet some famous bloggers! :D

A trip to Kuala Lumpur

I just came back to Sungai Siput after a few days spent time with my pupils in Kuala Lumpur! Yeahhh...we have a good time together in Kuala Lumpur. Actually 1MDB and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia has organized a programme to bring my pupils to the university and gain some new experiences in a big city!
I'm so glad that I was there together with my pupils. I experienced watching my pupils learning so much from the programme. Even just being with them in the bus makes me so happy.

The best part was when we visited Kidzania, where my pupils can work as anything that they want. I can see so much confidence has been developed. So happy to see some shy pupils suddenly went on the stage and do a fashion show, running here and there all by themselves involving in the activities prepared for them! It was so great! I think I can't stop smiling and gigling :D
Thank you so much for the warmth welcome to all students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a lots of thank you to 1MDB. Hope to get the opportunity again next time :)

p/s: have a good time and a good experiences. I hope it will last...

decorating mathsandwich! :D

"OK, now that you guys already here, please wash your hands, make sure it's clean. We gonna make sandwich" Mr. Hafiz yell to the year 1 kids.

I hope that's a catchy intro...haha... So, it's Friday and that's means my mathematics class is at the last period. It always difficult to attract pupils at this time as it's the last day for school in a week.  So, today we make sadwich

Very easy to do, I brought with me some bread, jam, peanuts, raisins and jelly for the decoration on the top of the sandwich.

I put the kids in a group of 4 so that they can work together to make the sandwich and to avoid chaos. Looking at the food, the jeklly and peanut, I can see the kids cant wait to stuff all that food in their mouth...so attract them with counting!

I put it on their table, give the bread and put the jam on it. Then, I gave instruction to the kids to count the peanut and put it on their bread. Then, continue with jelly and raisins...at the end we count all the things together the get the total. After everybody finish decorating their sandwich, we put it in the oven. And then, what else, EAT!!!
